History of the Australian CraftBrewersThe Australian CraftBrewers started as a 'free' discussion list in December 2000. This discussion list was hosted by Yahoo groups and while it was financially free, we were certainly not free to determine how we wanted it to look or behave. Yahoo served us well for more than two years before some Yahoo Groups policies started to affect member's access to the list. Unsolicited commercial offers (commonly called SPAM) resulted in email coming from Yahoo being blocked by some Internet providers, rendering the list unavailable to some people. It was time to move on. The Craftbrewer web site was launched at the same time as the eMail discussion list. It 'squatted' at a number of free sites for a while before a lack of speed or reliability forced us to find a more robust home. This was kindly provided by John McClumpa, a fellow brewer that ran Incitegraphics, a graphics design company. We enjoyed more than two trouble free years thanks to John's generousity but a need to bring the web site and email discussion list together on a single server meant that we had to find our own home. It was time to move on. Now that we are free of the restrictions that come with living on someone else's servers, we can implement our plans for an expanded CraftBrewer web site and Discussion list. But this costs money. How can you help ?We would like to provide an opportunity for you or your company to gain recognition for supporting us. All donations are utilised for the exclusive support of the Australian CraftBrewer. There are several support levels available.
To maximise your recognition only a single supporter can be accepted for advertising in the eMail messages and message archive pages. All other levels are displayed according to the amount received. Advertisments will be weighted by donation amount. Higher donations gets more impressions through the banner. Supporters donating equal amounts will appear on the page on a first-come, first-served basis. All donations provide recognition for a period of 12 months from the date of first listing. Donations received for each level will also entitle the supporter to the recognition provided by the levels below it. For example a donation of $200 would entitle you to a position on rotating banner advertisment on Web page and a display advertisment and link on the supporters page. All Supporters will be listed in perpetuity on the supporters page, and are welcome to receive a CraftBrewer.org email account. This is a full featured email account allowing you to read your mail either online, or to forward it to your email client (Outlook or Netscape for instance), or even to another email address.
